Aadhaar Authentication History

The UIDAI is the authorized authority to issue Aadhaar Card.It has provided a special feature to aadhar holders to check their aadhaar authentication history online via their official website.

This is a unique feature which will allow the users to check in the history of their aadhar details update request. If an individual changes his/her address, phone number, email address and so on, the same can be updated and it will be stored under the Update Request Number (URN) in UIDAI’s database. The users can also get their biometric as well as demographic details offline at the enrollment centres and the updated transaction can be viewed on the online platform.

How to Check Aadhar Card Authentication History Online?

One can check the history of aadhaar authentication via the official web page of UIDAI. To avail, this facility, one’s mobile number should be registered in the UIDAI database. Follow the below-mentioned steps to check aadhaar update history:

Step 1: Visit the UIDAI web portal
Step 2: Select the option ‘Aadhaar Update History (Beta) from the ‘Aadhaar Update’ section.


Step 3: Enter your aadhaar number or the Virtual ID followed by security code.
Step 4: Proceeding further you can either select one of the options either send the OTP to registered mobile number or generate Time -based OTP (TOTP) from the mAadhaar app.
Step 5: If you select Send OTP option then you will receive an OTP which will be sent to your mobile number which is registered with Aadhaar.
Step 6: If you have selected TOTP option, then you will be receiving a TOTP which will be generated in the mAadhar app for authentication.
Step 7: Enter the OTP/TOTP and click on the option ‘submit’.
Step 8: A list of all the update instances will be displayed on the screen which involves both online or offline updates or in biometric or demographic data.

The results of Aadhar Authentication Update history which get displayed on the screen will include:

URN – The URN stands for Update Request Number which gets generated at the time of placing the request. This will be mentioned first, this will be used to check the status of the update request.

Date and Time of Checking – The date and time of checking the aadhar update history will be mentioned on the screen.

Type of Update – The type of update, be it biometric, demographic or a new request will be displayed on the screen.

Date of Update – The date on which the request for updating the aadhar details was submitted will also be displayed on the screen.

Photo of the User – The user photo gets displayed on the screen.

Demographic Details – The demographic details such as e-mail ID, mobile number, name, date of birth, gender and address mentioned in the aadhar will also get displayed.

Unique Features of Aadhar Card Authentication

  • One can see if they have made any changes in their Aadhaar details
  • One can use the Aadhaar Virtual ID to check the Aadhar update history as well
  • The aadhar update history of an applicant can be accessed only by the person himself and no one else can get access to the details.
  • One can also check that none of the updates is shown that you have performed. If in case, if there is any such entry, then report the matter to UIDAI immediately.
  • This facility is available only via an online platform and cannot be accessed via offline. If in case, you visit an Aadhar
  • Enrollment centre, even the executive over there cannot provide you with these details.
