In August, the Odisha government has announced holidays on the following days. August 10, the second week of Saturday as Bank Holiday; August 15, on account of Independence Day and on August 24, the fourth week of Saturday as Bank Holiday.

Bank Holidays in Odisha during August

All the banks in Odisha will remain closed on the above mentioned days.

The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including United Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Independence Day: Independence Day is a national festival. It is declared as a national holiday in India. The day is observed with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, and several cultural activities in schools and colleges across the country. The Prime Minister of the country customarily raises the national flag at Red Fort in India every year in the presence of dignitaries.

On this day the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Gallantry and Police Medal for Gallantry, Meritorious Service, Correctional Services Medal, Fire Service Medals, Home Guard and Civil Defence Medals, Force wise/State wise Medals will be conferred on Soldiers and Policemen for their outstanding deeds of bravery.

Several historical monuments will be illuminated on this day including President of India’s House in New Delhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and BMC headquarters in Mumbai, India Gate in New Delhi and so on.
